Terms

When you sign up to join The Prose Train, you consent to the following:

1. Minimal editing/proofreading of possible grammatical, spelling, formatting, or logical errors in your work by fellow peers, your project manager, and Gunn English teachers Katherine Ja and Tarn Wilson; and
2. Publication of your work on our website and in any literary magazines or story contests we submit to.

Author Rights: You will be a joint author of the work you produce with the rest of the writers on your project. By signing up, you agree:

• To allow The Prose Train to have first right of publishing the work on its website, on other third party websites (like social media sites), and in print (magazines, excerpts, etc.);
• To allow The Prose Train to submit to literary journals and short story contests to increase visibility of your work;
• To not modify or create “derivative works” of the full, completed work;
• To not market the full, completed work as your own without giving credit to the other authors; and
• To allow other authors to also publish the completed work.

The above consent allows The Prose Train to effectively manage and publish your work. The Prose Train will always let you know if a collaborative work is accepted for publication elsewhere. If The Prose Train submits your work to a contest or publication or creates an anthology where prize money or other compensation is awarded, any received compensation will be evenly distributed between all authors until The Prose Train becomes a legal nonprofit, at which point compensation will be used to fund The Prose Train’s operating costs. If you or any other author submits your work to a contest or publication where prize money or other compensation is awarded, any received compensation will be evenly distributed between all authors.

You and other writers on your project will always be given full author credit whenever your work is published. You will retain your full right to the work, and you may publish the work in other places after The Prose Train has published the full work on its website.

Artist Rights for Illustration Submissions: You will own full copyright of the artwork you submit to us. By submitting your artwork, you agree:

• To allow The Prose Train to have first right of publishing the artwork on its website, on other third party websites (like social media sites), and in print (magazines, excerpts, etc.); and
• That your artwork may not be chosen for publication.

If published on our website, The Prose Train will always credit your artwork with your name/pen name. We ask that you do not submit the same artwork for publication on other sites.

Privacy

What We Collect: We collect personal information from you such as your name, email address, phone number, school, state of residence, an optional bio, an optional profile photo, and social media handles that you submit through forms or by email communication.

Where Your Data is Stored: Your data will be stored on Notion, Google services (Gmail, Contacts, Sheets, Forms, Docs, etc.), and Tally. You can find their respective privacy policies here, here, and here.

How We Use Information You Provide Us: We will never sell your personal information to third parties for advertising purposes, though your personal information might be visible to others who are collaborating on the same project as you or on your profile on our website. We may use your personal information in the following ways:

• Identifying and communicating with you;
• Managing your information;
• Responding to questions, comments, and other communication for support;
• Creating a profile for you on our website; and
• For other purposes that we clearly disclose to you.

Your Data, Your Choices: You may request for your personal information to be corrected or deleted at any time, including email communications and other documents. Please contact us to do so.
